Indoor Mapping Project

Indoor Mapping with Handheld LiDAR

The goal of the project was to map the interiors of a variety of buildings using a 3D scanner equipped with light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology. We focused on mapping items like doors, windows, walls, and items that would be of interest to first responders when planning for and dealing with emergencies. We classified point clouds to show the locations of items in 3D and also created 2D shapefiles which can be used to plan routes and create floor plans with GIS software.
