Introductory and hands-on, multi-session training program in capabilities and use of the RIGIS.

Focus is on use of ArcView software and capabilities of the Rhode Island Geographic Information System (RIGIS) database. Two new programs which will be offered this spring are Implementing a Municipal GIS and Introduction to Spatial Analyst. Program is offered in conjunction with the URI Environmental Data Center.

• Makes use of the high-resolution RIGIS database, one of the most extensive assembled for a large area.
• Promotes use of geographic data in local decision making.
• Demonstrates applications of RIGIS data for municipalities and other groups.

The URI Environmental Data Center also provides technical assistance to communities interested in establishing or expanding local GIS capability.
