Michele Giorgianni
Graduate Assistant
M.E.S.M. Candiate, Remote Sensing & Spatial Analysis

Michele is currently a 2nd year graduate student in the Masters of Environmental Science and Management (MESM) program.  She studies under the direction of Dr. Peter August in the Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis Specialization.  Her B.S. in Geography was received from New Mexico State University.

Since she’s been a grad student at URI, Michele has had the opportunity to work as a GIS contractor for the Town of Cumberland building their underground infrastructure geodatabase.  Michele has also assisted the EDC with the georeferencing of historical imagery for the National Park Service.  Currently Michele is a GIS intern at the RI Department of Environmental Management working on her MESM Major project, which involves determining future land acquisition boundaries that support the mission of the State’s natural resource protection program.  She is also working on a Critical Lands for Conservation project for the Town of North Smithfield.

Outside of Michele’s work-world, her interests include snowboarding, motorcycle riding, dressing up in costume, dancing and aerobics, reading fiction, travel, cats and turtles.
