IT'S BACK!
The last Rhode Island GIS Conference was held on May 16, 1997, at the University of Rhode Island. Needless to say, GIS technology has come a long way since then, and the GIS community in the State has grown rapidly!
Please join us for this year's Rhode Island GIS Conference on June 1, 2007 at the University of Rhode Island Narragansett Bay Campus in Narragansett, RI.
This Conference features an entire track committed to the municipal applications of GIS. Additional sessions include an overview of GIS in Rhode Island State Government, discussions of Internet Applications and Natural Resource-oriented GIS applications, working with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Google Earth, and techniques for Bringing GIS to the Classroom. New users may choose to participate in GIS 101 and GPS 101 sessions that will provide introductions to these technologies and offer opportunities to experience them first-hand through brief exercises. Finally, a session will be offered to introduce Rhode Island's upcoming Geodata Gateway and learn how to make the most of Internet-based map services offered in the State.
Most importantly, this Conference promises a wonderful opportunity to network with new colleagues and catch up with old friends! A message board will be provided to attendees for the posting of job opportunities and resumes.
Limited, on-site registration will be available until 10 am on June 1st. Both cash or check will be accepted for on-site registration, however you run the risk of being turned away in the event we reach maximum capacity and we may not be able to offer you a box lunch in case we underestimate our final attendance figure and run out. See registration information for more details.
