Rhode Island Habitat Restoration Team

The purpose of the Habitat Restoration Team is to improve Rhode Island's environment by promoting the restoration of the State's habitats. Our challenge is to coordinate statewide restoration planning, projects, and information. Goals: Promote habitat restoration Undertake restoration planning Coordinate restoration activities Implement restoration projects Provide technical assistance for restoration Undertake restoration outreach and education Promote habitat research and monitoring Objectives: Develop the R.I. Coastal Habitat Restoration Plan Prioritize restoration projects Seek new restoration funding and leverage existing restoration monies Make restoration tools and information available to government and non-government entities Increase public awareness of the benefits of habitat restoration Develop key principles for ecological monitoring Develop sound scientific principles for habitat restoration projects Identify resources within existing government and non-government organizations that can benefit habitat restoration projects Organize and support habitat restoration workshops and educational materials Support scientific workshops in habitat restoration Promote improvements in water quality where needed to restore habitats Facilitate regulatory processes relating to restoration, such as permitting and mitigation activities Incorporate the RAE/ERF Restoration Principles (PDF file) into habitat restoration activities in Rhode Island
