Public Use:  Conservation/ Wildlife Area

Impacts:  Oily leachate is noted flowing from the landfill in the northern part of the creek. Also in this northern region one can find Phragmites along ditches in the southwest marsh along the road on the east side. A tidal restriction connects to the Panhandle in the south marsh. Ditching is another major impact. In the northern part of the creek the major transportation impact involves stormwater road tidal restrictions. The tide is greatly restricted throughout the creek, and an invasive plant cover of 5-20% can be found in the north. 15% of adjacent upland areas within 500' of marsh consists of impervious surfaces. >20% in the north and <5% in the south of the upland/marsh perimeter consists of man-made shoreline armoring. An unmanaged vegetative buffer zone occurs along 26-50% of the upland/marsh perimeter in the north and along >76% of the upland/marsh perimeter in the south. (reported STB 1996)
