(The map will automatically be zoomed in to this restoration site.) *Note: this application is best viewed using Internet Explorer. Access Point(s): Not documented for this site. Public Use: Not documented for this site. Impacts: Substantial filling in the area. There are tidal restrictions in the upper reaches which are promoting Phragmites growth. A pond in the northwestern corner is draining into the marsh. Approximately 80% of the marsh is surrounded by development within 500' of the buffer; the marsh is surrounded by residential property, school and playground parking lots, a school, nursing home, gas station, several small restaurants, and a large landscaping company. The landscaping company in the northeast corner of the marsh has large piles of landscaping/construction debris. There are seawalls bordering the ball fields and along Rt. 114 and the bike path. There is a 100' buffer only in the northern most region of the marsh. The area along the south west border is fringed by large boulders, indicating extensive fill in the area between Rt. 114 and the marsh. The south east border has evidence of fill along the ball field of Guitteras Middle School. The ball field itself was possibly a land fill site. The entire northern portion of the marsh is fringed with Phragmites. There are several tidal restrictions. One is a bridge/walking path which is 4' by 14'. Another is Rt. 114. Under the road is a 12'wide drainage structure, half of which is blocked. The third restriction is the bike path bridge, which is 3' wide and 3' high. Project Size: Not documented for this site.
