Impacts:  There is an intact buffer zone along the western side, but no buffer to the north or south. There is a yacht club at the southern end of the marsh. The shoreline edge of the marsh is a road. There are mosquito ditches present which are completely fill with Spartina alterniflora. Along the driveway of the park there is both fill and tidal restriction. Also along the driveway there is overland run-off and erosion near the culvert. There is a very small band of Phragmites along the upland edge and along the southern section of the marsh, adjacent to the road. There is cutting of the marsh and buffer by Colt State Park and the lawn extends to the edge of the marsh. There are several tidal restrictions. One is a stone culvert under the road (approximately 30 ft wide) which borders the entire marsh; there appears to be significant flushing. The marsh side is bordered by a stone wall and the harbor side with large pieces of concrete stone. Another is the driveway which is 15 ft wide; on the opposite side of the driveway is a wet depression in a lawn. The last tidal restriction is a raised path which could have been a historic road; it appears that freshwater is building up on the inland side of it. The inland portion is dominated by Distichlis. There appears to be a slight depression at the western end which allows saltwater in during high tides. There is also some pavement remaining. The area is re-vegetated with upland salt marsh species, Phragmites, and marsh elder. There is Phragmites in the area of washover and growing on the inland side of the restriction.

Access Point(s):   Not documented for this site.

Public Use:  Scenic View

Impacts:  There is no buffer, with cutting along access road by RIDEM. There has been no recent filling; filling probably occurred during road construction. There is run-off and cutting along the bike path. Tides are slightly restricted and there appear to be no invasive plants in the area. <15% of adjacent upland areas within 500' of marsh consists of impervious surfaces. <5% of upland/marsh perimeter consists of man-made shoreline armoring. (reported STB 1996)
