Access Point(s):   Not documented for this site.

Public Use:  Boat Ramp; Public Park

Impacts:  Transportation impacts at this site include stormwater. Tides are completely restricted and there is an invasive plant cover of >20%. 36-50% of adjacent upland areas within 500' of marsh consists of impervious surfaces. <5% of upland/marsh perimeter consists of man-made shoreline armoring. An unmanaged vegetative buffer zone occurs along 51-75% of the upland marsh perimeter. Cutting of marsh grasses poses a serious problem. (reported STB 1996)

Project Size:   Not documented for this site.

Area Benefited:   Not documented for this site.

Restoration Description:  Buffer Management; Hydrologic Restoration; Restoration of Tidal Elevations; Stormwater Management

Restoration Date:   Not documented for this site.

Target Species:   Data not available

Historic Conditions:  Raised paths, lawns, and a decayed parking lot all serve as tidal restrictions. An old foundation can be found in the marsh. Street runoff is evident and an off road vehicle issue in pending. Dead peat can be found on the beach south of the marsh, and there are future and current marsh migration problems.

Access Point(s):   Not documented for this site.

Public Use:  Public Park

Impacts:  There is a range of 5% to 20% cover of invasive plants at some regions within this site. A road at sea level creates a transportation impact at portions of this site. Other transportation impacts include road tidal restriction, stormwater, and marsh cutting. The easternmost point of the marsh is dominated by a Phragmites stand, and Phragmites can also be found along the marsh and perimeter between the marsh and lawns. 16-35% of adjacent upland areas within 500' of marsh consists of impervious surfaces. <5% of upland/marsh perimeter consists of man-made shoreline armoring. An unmanaged vegetative buffer zone occurs along 26-50% of the upland/marsh perimeter. (reported STB 1996)

Area Benefited:   Not documented for this site.

Restoration Description:  Barrier Beach Restoration; Erosion Control; Hydrologic Restoration; Invasives Control

Restoration Date:   Not documented for this site.

Target Species:   Data not available

Historic Conditions:  Old Mill Boulevard, which is parallel to the marsh, is at or below sea level. River Avenue is paved to the edge of the marsh on the north side. Discharge results from cutting of lawns and the marsh edge on River and Mill Cove Roads. 3 homes are right on the perimeter of the marsh, causing potential discharges into the marsh. homes on cesspools and failing systems are acknowledged by landowners. 10-15 square feet of yard waste has been cut and dumped on the edge of the marsh. The marsh perimeter buffer was cut for viewshed. Old hurricane damaged lots are now being colonized by the marsh. The western polygon has lots of cut lawns directly bordering the marsh. (reported STB 1996)
